Crank Up 2012 special guest Levi Vaoga

The first Crank Up was held in 1986 on a local farm with 25 tractors plus other machinery gathering for a public display.  The annual event has grown in popularity each year and was shifted to the Edendale Recreation Grounds in January 1988.

Peter Leitch special guest at the crankup Edendale vintage Machinery Club Crank Up continues to grow and now incorporates all available space at the Recreation grounds plus five paddocks of the adjacent Fonterra farm.  Since 2002 it has become a weekend event, starting on the Friday night with a street parade and ending on Sunday afternoon, and is held on the last weekend of January. 

In 2009, over 500 entries of Vintage Tractors and Machinery, Vintage Cars, Stationary Motors, Motorbikes etc were displayed.

It is very much a family weekend with a host of entertainment including Stunt Motor Cross Riders, Celebrity Events, Marching Girls, Rugby Challenge, Country Music, Pipe Bands, Vintage Shearing, Working Displays, Childrens Entertainment, and a large number of Craft and Food stalls.

Snow Quinn special guest at Edendale vintage machinery crankup weekend Edendale is situated about halfway between Invercargill and Gore.  It is the biggest weekend event held in Southland and also the largest in New Zealand of this kind on an annual basis. 

It attracts visitors from all over New Zealand and overseas each year. 
Special guests in the past have been Colin Meads(3 times), Richard Loe(2 times), Dick Tayler(2 times), Sir Edmund Hillary , Peter Leitch(Mad Butcher)(2 times), Keith Quinn and Caroline & Georgina Evers-Swindell.
